Shirt Making

Join shirt making expert Janet Pray as she teaches you the ins and outs of quality shirt making. Learn to create accurate topstitching, sharp collar points, clean finished collar stand and cuff using the Islander signature technique the “burrito”. Stitch on a pocket, set a sleeve and create Front and Sleeve plackets all without any pins! That’s right No pins, No basting, No Kidding! Wait that’s not all; In class you will discover Janet’s technique, the Express Method for streamlining any pattern. Using this method, you can make a shirt in about 3 hours!

To sum it all up; taking this class will result in the knowledge of how to sew well without pins, how to sew more efficiently and ergonomically, lots of tips and tricks for better sewing and you will go home with a brand new garment ready to wear. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Students will use one of Islander Sewing Systems’ Shirt Maker’s Express patterns. #227 Women’s Shirt Maker’s Express has vertical front darts and includes full bust adjustment directions. #228 Men’s Shirt Maker’s Express is a modern fit with optional back darts and a single front pocket. All Sewcial attendees will receive the pattern and shirt making supplies at a special “Sewcial” discount. The code for the discount along with supply list and class preparation details will be sent to you after registering for Sewcial.
I look forward to seeing you in class and sharing my knowledge on how to sew any garment with more ease and confidence and where the end result is something you will be extremely proud to own and wear.
